wool + water + soap = felt

Welcome to Sansart.

The name says it all: art van San.

Freely translated in French as 'no art'. What is Art?

Something is good if it feels good to you.

I make all kinds of things with sheep's wool and combine it with other objects

Wool is pre-eminently a fiber that affects your feeling.

It is soft and has a particularly warm appearance.

In addition to being soft, it is also tough, lightweight and

made from natural material.

What I make is diverse and always unique.

I like to make something on request, for a specific subject,

place or someone. I make atmosphere.

With a little love and also with a little humor.

The three keywords of my work are:

  • wall art

  • art

  • sweet felt

sea. felt. fiber.

fibers + objects

A shell or driftwood

often found in my work.

the Wadden Sea

is where i live and wander around.

It is the ever-changing nature

in combination with the weather

that inspires me.

The ripples of the sea,

trough at low tide,

seals resting here

and being born,

birds of prey as well

the mossy dike boulders...

This makes me happy and it gives me energy to do something new to create.

soft. cool. rough.

Making felt work  feels wonderfully soft

but is also very tough and rough.

Felting makes you feel 'natural' a piece finer

Felt work is always slightly different from what you imagined.

Wool is a natural product and likes to do its own thing.

A challenge to make something exactly like this

if that's what you have in mind.

It's also nice to accept that it's still...

turned out a bit different.

The final product is always unique.

Own.

Naturally. just.

Sheep wool felt

I make the felt with sheep's wool

vof different sheep species.

Sheep's wool is a natural product andconsists of

the shorn fur of sheep.

For example, in the spring before lambing

or later when the sheep walk out again.

The technique is basically simple:

by friction and movement of laid tufts of wool

that have been wetted with soap and water can do this

'hook' together and shrink.

This creates a piece of felt fabric.

I combine this old technique with fibers and objects.

"With my group of friends we learned how to felt cushions, that was so much fun!"

Natasha - 12

"Bedankt, ik heb een middag workshop wol & vilten met kinderen bij je gevolgd en het direct in twee groepen kunnen uitvoeren op de basisschool".

"Having a moment for myself to make something was wonderful.

My own art in the living room, matching our decor, that makes me so happy!"
